Home Site Speed Optimization: A great way to improve your SEO

Site Speed Optimization (SSO for short) is a set of techniques to improve the speed of your website. Thus, improve your SEO rank!

These techniques can be applied site-wide or on specific pages. In any case, applying Site Speed Optimization techniques on one page (especially if it is the homepage) has positive effects on the remaining pages. However, in some rare cases, some elements may stop working. For this reason, we always recommend that the service be site-wide. Or, in other words: it’s better to do Site Speed Optimization than Page Speed Optimization whenever possible.

How does Site Speed Optimization work?

To understand the speed of a site, tools available to all audiences are used. Perhaps the best known of them is GTmetrix. However, there is a Google speed measurement page: Page Speed Insights. And since you probably want to improve your ranking on Google, it is more than advisable that your ranking is as high as possible in said measurement tool.

Therefore, the Site Speed Optimization process begins with measuring your site in its current state. The values of the different parameters are taken as a baseline to compare the improvements.

For example, let’s take the following image as an example

Site Speed Optimization Test using GTmetrix

In the image above, we can see a pretty nice 92% Score, which is something very desirable. Anything ranking on high B or better in GTmetrix is a good value.

However, we can see a C grade on Yslow, which is around average (that yellow rhombus means average). However, you don’t want average, you want as much site speed as possible!

Digging deeper, we see that 6.9s figure for Fully Loaded Time variable. And a green upsided arrow (which means above average). So… this is great, isn’t it?

Well, not exactly. The figures above are averages. And of course, there are more slow sites than fast sites!

But this is getting worse. Like I said above, we want to focus on Google’s Page Speed Insights. And this is what Google Pagespeed shows (URL blurred for privacy):

21 pagespeed inisghts

WOW! That’s really bad! And the pagespeed report also shows a slower load speed of 9 seconds.

However, sometimes is otherwise: Google Pagespeed shows a better score than GTmetrix (although this is not as common). Bottom line is that you need both, as well as other tools!

Site Speed Optimization FAQs

On-site SEO vs On-page SEO analysis faq header

How much time does Flamine’s Page Speed Optimization process take?

It depends on your site and our workload. On average, it takes 3 business days to be completed.

Is there a limit of hours for your optimization services?

Yes. It’s impossible to realistically define how much work a site may take, but our one-time service pack (Ember) has a limit of 20 hours and Fire pack includes 40 hours a month. However, you’ll be informed before starting the project.

Many people says WordPress can’t be improved. Is that true?

Not at all. As a matter of fact, we LOVE WordPress and can promise your site will fly. Just in case, this site is built on WordPress!

However, be aware that there are 2 types of WordPress sites: self-hosted and those hosted at WordPress.com . If your site falls in the second case, we can’t provide services because your service won’t allow to do so. This being said, we could move your site to a self hosted WordPress setup (which is strongly advised)

What kind of information or access do you need to work?

We require access to your FTP and site admin area (for example, access to WordPress admin). Additionally, we may require access to your domain registrar, or give you instructions on what to do. This applies only for cases when you don’t have a CDN and want to use one (highly recommended) or if you need to move host.

Do you need to change servers or hosting?

Not really. In 90% of cases your current host will be fine, so no need to worry about it. And in the event we find your host is the culprit for some problems, we can advice about reliable hosting services or even host your site in one of our fast dedicated servers.

Do you guarantee “all green” scores? Am I going to get a 100% page speed score?

Yes, as long as you’re willing to do what we say. Also, keep in mind there are some scripts you may need that will lower your score. The most common are Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar and any chat service. If you need any of these, there’s absolutely no way to reach 100% on Pagespeed Insights and very little chances on GTmetrix. In these cases you’ll need to ponder whether to use these scripts or not.

Can you guarantee 2 seconds or less on mobile?

Read above.

What if you need to apply design changes?

As you may imagine, design changes are not contemplated in such low price. However, we can do them. And in case you need a redesign, we’ll inform you beforehand.

Do you optimize mobile apps?

No, this is only for websites and web pages.

Other services like yours charge between 10 and 30 times what you charge. Where’s the catch?

We are aware of this and we understand this may sound strange. However, there’s no catch. We can’t speak for other companies, only for us. And we believe in fair pricing and recurring customers, and this price is fair for our customers, but it also works for us.

Besides, unlike other services, we’re the only ones that guarantee results, so you could simply try us and if we don’t deliver, you get your money back (something you won’t get with any other service provider)

You mention a guarantee. What does it cover?

In a nutshell: We guarantee results, and we put them down in writing before start. If we don’t reach those results, we’ll give your money back, no questions asked. For a more extensive and detailed explanation, please see our Guaranteed SEO results policy
